Commentary (टीका)
Arjuna, overwhelmed by compassion and confusion about his duty, surrenders to Lord Krishna. Arjuna's nature is oppressed by kāruṇya-doṣa (flaw of pity), which clouds his judgment on what is truly beneficial (śreyas). He acknowledges his bewildered state and becomes a śiṣya (disciple), requesting divine guidance. This verse from the Bhagavad Gita signifies Arjuna's transition from self-reliance to seeking Krishna's instruction due to his recognition of his limitations. Arjuna approaches Lord Krishna as a prapanna (one who has surrendered), showing humility and a willingness to learn. The verse encapsulates the theme of seeking higher wisdom when faced with moral dilemmas. It highlights the importance of spiritual guidance in resolving confusions related to dharma (duty) and personal growth.
