स्वधर्ममपि चावेक्ष्य न विकम्पितुमर्हसि। धर्म्याद्धि युद्धाछ्रेयोऽन्यत्क्षत्रियस्य न विद्यते।।2.31।।

Considering even your own duty, you should not waver, for there is nothing more beneficial to a Kṣatriya than a righteous battle.

Commentary (टीका)
The sloka emphasizes the importance of svadharma (स्वधर्म), or one's own duty, particularly for a Kṣatriya (warrior class). Arjuna is reminded by Kṛṣṇa that he must not waver in performing his duty as a warrior. This duty is not merely personal, but aligned with a dhármya-yuddha (righteous war), which is considered the highest duty for a Kṣatriya. In his English commentary, Swami Sivananda explains that a righteous war is a welcome duty and that there is no higher duty for a Kṣatriya than to fight in such a war. The Hindi commentary by Swami Ramsukhdas further clarifies that svadharma includes fulfilling one's duty based on their varṇa (caste) and designation in society, which for Arjuna is to engage in battle without hesitation. Both commentaries highlight the philosophical viewpoint that adhering to one's svadharma brings about true welfare and honor.
