Commentary (टीका)

In this sloka, Duryodhana addresses Dronacharya, presenting the key leaders of his army before the great battle. The passage reflects strategic thinking where Duryodhana aims to bolster confidence through showing the strength and qualities of his forces. In terms of Sanskrit grammar, particular emphasis is laid on the use of verbs like "nibodha" (understand) which in context means, to pay careful attention which indicates the importance of awareness in military tactics.

The English commentary by Swami Sivananda clarifies the sloka's straightforward appeal to Dronacharya to recognize the excellence of Duryodhana's key warriors. On the other hand, the Hindi commentary by Swami Ramsukhdas explains Duryodhana's psychological state and strategic explanation, providing a cultural context about the nuanced behavior in military communication. It highlights the pride and strategic posturing of Duryodhana contrasted with the divine and righteous disposition of the Pandavas' army.

The primary theme revolves around the importance of recognizing the strength within one's own ranks while also, strategically communicating this strength to bolster unity and morale among allies.
