देवैरत्रापि विचिकित्सितं किलत्वं च मृत्यो यन्न सुज्ञेयमात्थ । वक्ता चास्य त्वादृगन्यो न लभ्यो नान्यो वरस्तुल्य एतस्य कश्चित् ॥ २२ ॥
devairatrāpi vicikitsitaṃ kilatvaṃ ca mṛtyo yanna sujñeyamāttha | vaktā cāsya tvādṛganyo na labhyo nānyo varastulya etasya kaścit || 22 ||

Translation/Explanation
Hindi: हे मृत्यु! आपने स्वयं कहा कि इस विषय में देवताओं ने भी संदेह किया था और यह सहजता से जानने योग्य नहीं है। आपके समान कोई दूसरा वक्ता, जो इस विषय को समझा सके, नहीं मिल सकता; और इस वर के समान कोई अन्य वर भी नहीं है। इस प्रकार, यह वरदान सर्वोच्च है, क्योंकि अन्य सभी वर केवल क्षणिक फल देने वाले हैं, जबकि यह आत्मा के वास्तविक स्वरूप के ज्ञान का साधन है।
English: O Mṛtyu! You yourself have stated that even the devas have doubted regarding this subject, and that it is not easily knowable. There is no other speaker like you who can explain this; nor is there any other boon equal to this one. Thus, this boon is supreme, as all other boons yield only transitory results, whereas this is the means to the knowledge of the true nature of ātman.
Commentary
Thus addressed, Naciketā said, ‘I have heard from yourself that even the devas had doubt on this point and you say, O Mṛtyu, that the true nature of the ātman is not easy to know. As this cannot be known even by the learned, another, learned like you to explain this, cannot be found, though sought.’ This boon also is a means to the attainment of emancipation and there is no other boon which can at all weigh with this. The meaning is that other boons bear only transitory fruits.
