पूर्व में किए गए कर्मों के फल के साथ संबंध होने के कारण, उसी से उत्पत्ति होती है। अर्थात्, किसी वस्तु या घटना की उत्पत्ति का कारण पूर्वकृत कर्म के फल से जुड़े हुए संबंध में निहित है। यह सूत्र कर्मफल के सिद्धांत को स्पष्ट करता है कि वर्तमान में जो उत्पत्ति होती है, वह पूर्वकृत कर्म के फल के अनुबन्ध से ही संभव है।

Due to the association with the result of previously performed actions, origination takes place. That is, the cause of the emergence of something lies in its connection with the result of past actions. This sūtra clarifies the doctrine of karmic results, stating that the origination observed in the present is possible only because of the linkage with the fruits of prior deeds.
