Commentary (टीका)

In this sloka, Bhagavān describes the journey of a yogi who persistently makes an effort, maintaining diligency and dedication in his practice. Such a yogi, being purified from previous misdeeds, attains perfection over numerous births. This process leads him ultimately to the supreme state, which is the realization of the highest truth or final beatitude.

The underlying message is about the transformative power of persistent spiritual practice. As Swami Sivananda interprets, the yogi gains experiences and progresses across many lives until gaining self-realization. Similarly, Swami Ramsukhdas elucidates how the yogi, despite being born into materialistic surroundings, continues to focus on the divine path, overcoming desires and dualities with steadfast resolve.

The key emphasis is the role of consistent effort, with focus anchored on purifying one's internal conditioning. By embodying qualities of detachment and discernment, along with persistent effort, ultimate realization of the self and liberation from the cycle of birth and death can be achieved, as encapsulated in the journey toward 'parāṁ gatim' (the highest path).

The aspirant's effort in transcending binding actions (sakāma karma) and evolving through spiritual discipline emphasizes liberation through experiential wisdom, where personal imperfections are transcended, leading to the grace-filled goal. This pathway reflects the yogic ethos of sustained striving towards divine unity that annuls karmic debts and affirms liberation potential inherent in committed seekers. ```
