Commentary (टीका)

The essence of this sloka is the transformation of the yogī who, through continuous practice of yoga (which includes practices like meditation and concentration), attains purity by shedding all impurities or sins. Such a yogī maintains constant contact with Brahman, the ultimate reality, thereby experiencing unparalleled and eternal bliss. Brahmasaṁsparśa (the union with Brahman) is beyond temporary pleasures and leads to a state of happiness that is uninterrupted and never diminishing.

The Hindi commentary emphasizes the state of being devoid of ego and possessiveness, which are seen as impurities (kalmaṣa). The Yogi reaches a stage where the 'I' and 'mine' become irrelevant, leading to the direct experience of unity with Brahman. This yoga practice here is not merely physical but an inward journey towards one's essence, resulting in the supreme bliss (ānanda).

The commentaries elaborate that such liberation and bliss are short-lived when associated with tangible pleasures, as they are inferior compared to the infinite joy of Brahmānanda which is seamless and exists without boundaries or interruptions. This passage outlines the experiential difference between worldly pleasure and the ultimate divine joy that one gains from adherence to spiritual discipline. ```
