Commentary (टीका)

This verse emphasizes the concept of jīvanmukti (liberation while alive) and advaita (non-duality) in Vedantic philosophy. It reveals that the brahmavit, or the knower of Brahman, is always in a state of liberation and fulfillment even while living. The dissolution of upādhi (limiting adjuncts or conditioning) signifies the true realization of one's identity with Brahman, transcending all dualities. This self-realization brings about a profound state of non-duality where perceiver and perceived, knower and known, merge into oneness. The verse underscores the ultimate goal of Advaita Vedanta: to realize the inseparability of the self from the supreme reality, Brahman.
