Commentary (टीका)
This verse delves into the profound concept of self-realization through the lens of Advaita Vedanta. It emphasizes the necessity of atyanta-nivṛtti or the complete cessation of the ahamkāra (ego) and the subsequent resolution of the vikalpas (mental distinctions) created by it. The seeker, through viveka (discernment) of the pratyak-tattva (inner self), realizes their intrinsic identity with the ultimate reality, signified by the declaration "I am this" (idam aham asmi). This realization signifies the dissolution of the perceived separation between the self and the universe, embodying the non-dualistic essence of Vedanta. The process involves transcending ego-identification and mental constructs to apprehend the underlying tattva (truth).
