Commentary (टीका)

This verse emphasizes the importance of self-effort and self-realization in the journey of spiritual liberation. The ocean of worldly existence, *saṁsāra-vāridhau*, symbolizes the turbulent and endless cycle of birth and death which every being is swirling around. By achieving mastery in *yoga,*, which implies control over the mind and senses, and maintaining *samyak-darśana* or a correct vision of reality, one can lift themselves out of ignorance and suffering, transforming their consciousness. This relies on individual initiative — it underscores that liberation must be sought actively through internal means rather than expecting external forces to intervene. Through steadfast practice and clear sight, one can transcend worldly limitations and realize their true nature.
