Commentary (टीका)

This verse highlights the purity and utility of *sattva* (essence), depicting it as transparent and life-giving like water. Even though pure in nature, it joins with worldly elements to provide refuge, creating a space where the self, reflected in the *ātma-bimba* (self-reflection), acts like the sun (*arka*), illuminating all inert substances. It metaphorically represents the role of pure consciousness in shedding light on the material world, emphasizing the interplay between the self and the non-self in realizing universal truth. The analogy of water signifies fluidity and adaptability, while the sun symbolizes illumination and wisdom.
