Commentary (टीका)

This verse discusses the role of the external senses (*bāhyendriya*) and the physical body (*vapuṣaḥ*) in experiencing the waking state (*jāgara*). The focus is on how the soul (*jīvaḥ*) interacts with the tangible world, enjoying various forms such as garlands, sandalwood, and women. These experiences emphasize the importance of the body in the waking state, where sensory perceptions are most active. The *prashasti* or glorification of the body in this state illustrates its paramount role in enabling the soul to experience the material world through different forms and enjoyments.
