जब किसी विषय में कोई विशेष भेद नहीं बताया गया हो, और वक्ता की मंशा के कारण उसमें कोई अन्य अर्थ कल्पित किया जाए, तो उसे वाक्-छल कहा जाता है। अर्थात्, जब स्पष्टता के अभाव में वक्ता अपने उद्देश्य से भिन्न अर्थ आरोपित करता है, तो यह शब्दों का छल है।
