इस सूत्र में कहा गया है कि किसी विशेष विषय के लिए 'दीपक के प्रकाश' जैसी उपमा उपयुक्त नहीं है, क्योंकि उस वस्तु की पहले ही सिद्धि हो चुकी है। अर्थात्, जिस प्रकार दीपक के प्रकाश का उदाहरण यहाँ लागू नहीं होता, वैसे ही यहाँ उपमा का प्रयोग असंगत है; इसका कारण यह है कि जिस विषय की चर्चा है, वह पहले ही प्रमाणित हो चुका है।
