इस सूत्र में कहा गया है कि सम्पूर्ण बन्धनों से पूर्ण मुक्ति ही अपवर्ग, अर्थात् परम पुरुषार्थ या अंतिम मोक्ष है। यहाँ 'तत्' शब्द पूर्व में वर्णित जिस वस्तु या अवस्था की बात हो रही है, उसका अत्यन्त विमोक्ष ही अपवर्ग कहलाता है। यह मोक्ष जन्म-मरण के चक्र से अंतिम मुक्ति के रूप में समझा गया है।
