इस सूत्र में कहा गया है कि जहाँ कोई तर्कदोष (निग्रहस्थान) नहीं है, वहाँ तर्कदोष का आरोप लगाना, और जिस पर प्रश्न नहीं उठाया जा सकता, उस पर प्रश्न करना – ये दोनों अनुचित हैं। अर्थात, वाद-विवाद में बिना दोष के दोषारोपण तथा अनुचित व्यक्ति से प्रश्न करना, ये दोनों तर्कशास्त्र के नियमों के विरुद्ध हैं।

This sūtra states that imputing a point of defeat (nigrahasthāna) where there is actually no fault, and questioning someone who is not liable to be questioned, are both improper. In other words, in debate, it is against the rules of logic to accuse someone of a fault where none exists or to interrogate someone who is not obligated to answer.
